Hi Jackie,
What is important is that you get a sharp lens. A standard “kit lens” is not particularly sharp or great. I would suggest a 50mm Nikon lens. There are a couple of options, but they are all very good. What you probably want too, is to use a tripod, to be able to get tack sharp photos at ISO 100.

I’m an artist who paints and have almost no idea how to take photos if it’s not with a point and click camera. I need to get into the selling larger prints of my work business and as a starving artist I need to get the best camera possible for a good price. I understand about the larger pixel numbers so I’m wondering if the best choice for me would be the
Nikon D3200 24.2 MP CMOS Digital SLR Camera with 18-55mm and 55-200mm Non-VR DX Zoom Lense because of the additional 4 mp’s but I’m not sure. Any advice would be so helpful. I need to be able to make prints up to 36+ inches. Thanks a ton! Jackie
