Hey Jussi,
Thanks a lot 🙂 There literally are hundreds of tips to improve, but if you condense them, they really sum up to very few high level tips. I can see that you are in the Arcanum too 🙂 Cool place!
Have a great day, where ever you’re based right now!

Hey Jacob,
A well written and helpful article that I very much agree with. I often get asked the this very question.
“What are a few tips that would most improve my work as a photographer?” I now have a well articulated article to share with them.
Cheers,
Jussi

Hi Jerry,
Very good input! And I have had the exact same thoughts and have used forums and social media to do that. Mostly in the beginning, though, until I acquired enough skill for myself. But I still think it’s very interesting to see, what the ‘public’ likes and doesn’t like. It’s not always predictable.
Thanks for your input 🙂

]]>Thanks for your thoughtful article, Jacob, I certainly agree with you! One comment, on something I’ve learned recently, is the power of using Social Media for feedback to help develop a better sense of how to separate the good and bad shots.
It’s interesting to conduct “experiments” by posting shots that I’m not sure about, for example, did the shot have too much noise? Will anyone notice or care? Content always seems to win out, over the pure technical characteristics! Popularity of “Likes” or “+1’s” may not be the most accurate way to assess good or bad, but certainly does help. I’ve been surprised by some shots that I didn’t think were all that good, but when they turn out to be “popular”, I reassess my own thinking, and then discover something I personally missed, that others can see!
